Community guidelines

SoFly exists to get people off their phones and into the same place. Help keep it good.

Hosting

  • Post real meetups that you plan to show up to.
  • Choose a public place, such as a park, court, cafe or trailhead. Don’t post your home address. Addresses on SoFly are visible to everyone.
  • Be clear about time, place, skill level and what to bring.
  • No ads, selling, recruiting or promotions. Free or cost-share meetups only.
  • Use the skill level, age and audience settings honestly. They help the right people find your meetup. SoFly can’t verify ages or gender, so for 21+ events at a venue, check ID at the door.
  • Hosting a coffee chat or dinner? You can choose to approve each person. You’ll see each requester’s profile and any note they added, so you can decide. Only approved people see the exact address, so decide who joins based on how comfortable you feel, and never share the address publicly.
  • If you can’t host after all, cancel the meetup from its page so people aren’t left waiting. SoFly may also cancel meetups that break these guidelines.
  • If plans change, update the event or delete it so people aren’t left waiting.
  • Want a group chat? Add an invite link (WhatsApp, GroupMe, etc.) to your event. Only you and people who join can see it. Avoid posting your phone number publicly.

Joining

  • Some meetups ask you to request to join. The host decides who comes, and they don’t owe you a reason. Please take a “no” graciously.
  • Only join if you plan to go. If you can’t make it, tap Leave so someone else can have your spot.
  • Be kind and inclusive. No harassment, discrimination, or unwanted advances.
  • SoFly is for people 18 and older.
  • Respect who a meetup is for. If it’s marked Women-only or Men-only, or has an age range, and that isn’t you, please don’t join.

Staying safe

  • You’re meeting people you haven’t met before. Tell a friend where you’re going.
  • Arrange your own transportation, and leave if something feels off.
  • Hosts and attendees aren’t screened or vetted by SoFly. Meetups are organized by individuals, and you take part at your own risk.

Reporting

Use Report this meetup at the bottom of any event page for spam, scams, unsafe or misleading posts. We may remove meetups or accounts that break these guidelines. For anything urgent, email NEXT_PUBLIC_CONTACT_EMAIL.
